As we develop the curriculum for the symposium each year our selected speakers often ask what is the theme or is there a theme to guide the topic selection? With the exception of a rare year or two in the past when we had a theme like the memorable sexuality and Chinese medicine (prudish CEU regulators had a field day with that) we have universally given the following advice to speakers: Share the topic you are most interested in, the area you are most involved with, and it will provide the basis for the best presentation and most successful symposium. Even when a speaker’s topic closely resembles another’s, the perspective or approach varies enough to make the opportunity for comparison valuable and interesting.
