Dr. Poney Chiang received a PhD in biomedical research from the Institute of Medical Science, University of Toronto, followed by a Master’s degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in New York. He is an adjunct professor and founder of the Integrative Acupuncture Certificate Program for the Faculty of Health at York University (Toronto). Poney is also a professor at the American Neuro-Acupuncture Institute in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Dr. Chiang is a leading expert in peripheral neuro-anatomy of acupoints and their associated neuro-modulation needle techniques. He has been invited to lecture at Chinese medicine and biomedicine conferences and to conduct workshops in North/South America, Europe, and Australia. His current research interest involves an MRI-based study of the neuro-anatomy of acupoicents on the scalp and their relationships to cortical functional regions.

David Hartmann, author of Principles and Practical Application of Acupuncture Point Combinations published by Singing Dragon and Acupoint Dictionary 2e published by Elsevier Churchill Livingstone, is an experienced acupuncturist, educator, and clinician based in Australia, practicing since 1997. In addition to maintaining a busy clinical practice, Hartman is a respected educator who has trained acupuncturists throughout the world. At Australian Institute of Applied Sciences (AIAS) he served as Head of the Chinese Medicine department for ten years and he taught every Chinese medicine subject. He has designed courses and curriculum in acupuncture related subjects for several colleges. His teaching combines classical acupuncture principles with contemporary clinical insight, offering practitioners clear protocols, case studies, and hands-on techniques. David Bomzon is a therapist and the leading authority in Israel for rehabilitative acupuncture who specializes in classical Chinese medicine and YNSA. Dr. Heiner Fruehauf has researched East Asian civilizations and Chinese medicine for more than 30 years. After studying comparative literature, philosophy, sinology, and Chinese medicine at universities in Germany, China, Japan and the United States, he received a PhD from the Department of East Asian Languages and Civilizations at the University of Chicago. During five years in China, he researched Chinese medicine both within the institutionalized TCM model (Chengdu University of TCM), as well as the traditional lineage system that continues to function outside government schools.

Dr. Fruehauf is the founding professor of the College of Classical Chinese Medicine at NUNM, where he has taught since 1992. He also has an active private practice in the Columbia River Gorge area, specializing in the treatment and prevention of chronic, difficult and recalcitrant diseases with Chinese herbs. His interest in preserving some of the traditional features of Chinese medicine led him to develop a database dedicated to the archiving of classical knowledge, and an herbal patent series for chronic and difficult diseases. Holly Guzman, OMD, LAc, has been in practice and teaching Chinese medicine since 1983. She began learning at age 13 in Afghanistan, with the help of the Chinese Embassy. After an independent study in acupuncture at UCSC, her foundational teachers included Dr. Tin Yao So, who founded the first school of acupuncture in the USA; Ted Kaptchuk, with whom she apprenticed in his clinic and whom she assisted in opening the first acupuncture clinic in a state hospital; Kiiko Matsumoto, founder of KMS style Japanese acupuncture; an apprenticeship with Miriam Lee, who was pivotal in legalizing acupuncture in California; and Yat Ki Lai, a legendary herbalist and faculty at ACTCM. She has also been studying with Jeffrey Yuen since 1996.

Since 1984, Guzman has been a faculty member at Five Branches University of Chinese Medicine. Dr. John Chen, PhD, OMD, LAc, is a recognized authority on Chinese herbal medicine and Western pharmacology. Holding doctoral degrees from both USC School of Pharmacy and South Baylo University, he currently teaches at USC and other universities of traditional Chinese medicine. Chen actively participates in education and research, and lectures widely at conferences at local, state, national, and international levels.
