Dr. Kenneth “Khensu” Carter is the current President of the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA) with many years as a NADA Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist (ADS) and then a NADA Registered Trainer. He began his comprehensive acupuncture education–as a rising 3rd-year medical student in 1982 at Lincoln Detox under the tutelage of Mr. Carlos Alverez, Mr. Jose Aponte, and Dr. Michael Smith. He is also the first and second author of several NADA Protocol (NP) research, concept, and policy-related publications.
Dr. Khensu Carter practices as an Integrative Psychiatrist and Comprehensive Acupuncturist at the Bay Pines Veterans Administration Medical Center in Florida. He holds a Master’s in Public Health from Columbia University as well as an MD degree from Rutgers University with his residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. As a physician board certified in both psychiatry (ABPN) and acupuncture (NCCAOM) Dr. Khensu is a spokesman and a champion for the seamless integration of 5 Needle Protocol as an adjunct to usual and customary mental health care services including substance use disorder/addiction, medication management, peer support, psychotherapy and crisis/trauma support in individual/group/community and wellness settings.
