Barbara de la Torre

Barbara de la Torre, MD, FAAMA
Barbara de la Torre is a board-certified family medicine physician and medical acupuncturist with over 20 years of experience in the field who runs a private practice on an entirely integrated model. She is a second-generation integrative medicine physician who has had a foot in both Eastern and Western medicine for decades: her mother was a physician in family medicine and a Chinese medicine trailblazer who became the first woman president of the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture (AAMA), a medical organization dedicated to integrating medicine and acupuncture.
De la Torre educates healthcare practitioners and patients on healthcare systems, Korean hand therapy, qigong, and other lifestyle practices. She currently serves on the board of the AAMA, consults for legal acupuncture cases, and is a faculty preceptor with the Helms Medical Institute, which formally educates physicians in medical acupuncture. De la Torre is master-certified in medical qigong from the Ling Gui lineage, served on the Acupuncture Advisory Committee for the Oregon Medical Board for six years, and founded the Third Opinion MD organization and podcast.
