Gua Sha Practicum

Presented by:

Gua Sha Practicum is a hands-on workshop which serves as the practicum portion required to complete Dr. Nielsen’s Gua Sha Certification Course. Dr. Nielsen, who graduated in the first class of the first acupuncture college in the US, is author of Gua Sha: A Traditional Technique for Modern Practice. She will review the science of gua sha and clinical research supporting its inclusion in every clinical practice. Dr. Nielsen will also demonstrate and supervise the positioning of the patient and the treatment of specific areas of the body, and assess each participant’s gua sha technique. Participants will learn how and where to apply gua sha for specific disorders; what to expect from a single gua sha session in terms of color of sha and immediate tongue changes; and how to assess if or when to apply gua sha again. Adult and pediatric applications and special techniques will be covered, as will compliance with universal precautions and infection control. If participants have not completed the 11 Module online portion of the Gua Sha Certification Course, it is recommended that they begin the modules which are there to serve a full knowledge of application of gua sha in clinical practice.
